What??? Are You A Real Hypocrite?
Last week I turned 28. What else can be sad than realizing that you are turning old? Well, this age makes us realize that we need to be more robust and act mature. Yesterday, a memory suddenly came to mind as I casually sipped on a soft drink and browsed through old photos. I was thinking that why am I able to see all the fake things happening around me? I turn out to be disappointed more often.
While having a conversation with one of my old buddies a few days back, I encountered something very offensive. This friend of mine was talking about her experience at her workplace. She is from the bordering areas of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and so she counts herself as more of a Bihari. So, she told me that since she disclosed to people about her hometown, her colleagues have started weirdly treating her.
She mentioned that she had told few of her colleagues about the culture and traditions of her native land. Since then, her work and efficiency have no worth there and she is all the way outcasted by those people.
But it was annoying to hear something from someone so close. The world has become full of hypocrites. People at times will be sweet on your face and ready for backstabbing the other moment. Has anyone ever experienced getting judged based on their language? Yes, it happens these days. If you speak English, thumbs up, if you speak a foreign language, amazing but if you speak Hindi in India, you are a total waste. How does a language decide your standard? Language is just a medium of expression and not something to flaunt. I am choosing to write this piece in English because it’s my choice( for people who were ready with their fingers to be pointed at me). This is the modern generation that gives us these kinds of glimpses.
Not only this, the level of judging gets too far. If in modern times, one happens to be of a spiritual thought process or for the sake of a religious touch, the person will be criticized till death. No, I am not saying this just for the sake of saying it.
One day I was on a group video call with a few of my friends when I got to hear about this. A friend of mine shared her experience when she mentioned about her being a religious sort of person offended someone. Are we living or just pretending to live? I mean, it’s one’s own choice of how he/she wants to be. Why has someone categorized people on such and such basis and just term them separately? Not everyone can be of the same type. But some pseudo-intellectuals are not that brainy to understand this little thing. Isn’t it?
The level of hypocrisy is unending in the present time. Everyone pretends to be intellectual but when it comes to accepting the other person, it gets tough. Why is it so hard not to impose your beliefs on someone? I might be sounding harsh and bitter but this is it. Do people even think that how hard it hits a person mentally when he/she is judged on some basic parameters? It really takes a toll on someone’s mental health when they are mocked and treated as an outsider. Being mean is so easy. Why is it difficult to be human and considerate?
There is a vast difference between being open and pretending to be ‘open’. I have had many experiences where people with no literacy and not being intellectual treat others with sheer kindness and generosity. So, it’s just about giving space and not being in a hurry to have an opinion about something.
Now, it’s high time I should put an end to my words and apply some balm on my back as I am in great pain, both on the physical and mental front. As said earlier, we are aging and this pain again makes me realize that we are getting older. The thing is we need to be more human, that’s it. If anyone understands this, it’s better, or all my energy is in vain. Bye readers!….see you next time with some other real concern. Till then be kind because it can stop you from being hated by someone actually.
